The Algeria national football team is constituted by a selection of the best players in the Algerian auspices of the Algerian Football Federation. Dubbed the Fennecs (foxes Sahara), it qualifies for World Cup soccer, 1982, 1986 and 2010 and won the African Cup of Nations in 1990 as host country (finalist of the CAN in 1980, 3rd in 1984 and 1988 and fourth last in 1982 and 2010).
For the third time in its history, Algeria has qualified for the finals of World Cup football (which takes place in South Africa in 2010) at the expense of Egypt during a replay held in Khartoum, Sudan, 18 November 2009.
